Donkey's Years have been in the antique business for over 40 years. "We started as a young couple trying to make our way in the world, from small beginnings, standing Leeds Market in the 1980's, to raising a family of three boys through the 90's & 00's. The age of the internet boosted and changed the way we traded, opening the international market for the first time. In 2016, after riding the internet wave for a few years and once the boys didn't need us as much, we rented a large space in an Antiques Centre in Harrogate. We loved seeing people's joy when handling items in person and knew a tactile business was the way forward for us. After finding out that the centre was to close down, we knew it was time for us to open our own place in our home town. We set to work securing a property and selecting some of the best traders in the industry to take up cabinets in Knaresborough's biggest ever Antiques Centre. Our family-owned shop is in the heart of Knaresborough, and has since grown to become one of the most reputable antique shops in the region. Attracting like minded dealers, collectors, TV shows and tourists to the town. We boast hauls of new stock arriving weekly. There is always something for everyone at Donkey's Years"

The House in the Rock, also known as Fort Montague, is a local Knaresborough curiosity. In the early 19th century, a strange child appeared in the Hill family. This child had abnormal very blonde woolly hair resembling the fleece of a sheep and was known as the Woolly-Headed Boy of Fort Montague. He conducted visitors around the house and was a great curiosity himself.
This story and many more legends and folklore of Knaresborough can be found out on a visit.
